Discharge Instructions for IV Vitamin Therapy

Congratulations on taking an important step today towards wellness and vitality and enjoying your infusion of hydrating fluids and vitamins that restored, enhanced and invigorated your body and will help you achieve your full potential. Please follow these simple instructions to help you derive the full benefit of IV Vitamin and Hydration therapy:
  • You may remove the protective cover over the IV site any time after the next 6 hours.
  • You may place cold pack over the IV site for 20 minutes once every two hours over the next 24 hours if you experience discomfort, which is common and normal, and bruising, which is uncommon but also may occur.
  • Minor bleeding at the IV site may occur and virtually always stops after applying point pressure to the IV site with two fingers for 10 min and elevating the arm above the level of the heart. If it does not stop after that, please go to the nearest emergency room while holding the pressure on the IV site.
  • Dermatitis is a mild skin reaction to the adhesive used to secure IV tubing to your arm. If this occurs, it will usually go away on its own within the next day or so, and topical antihistamine may help to expedite the healing process.
  • Minor infection or irritation of the vein (phlebitis) is a very rare event and is characterised by a red, warm, tender streak around the IV site. It typically resolves on its own with warm compresses within a few days, however if it progresses to involve a larger area of the arm, please contact your primary doctor or go to the emergency room for treatment with antibiotics.
  • Please notify our staff immediately if you have a fever or notice swelling, redness or warmth at the IV site or if any of the above occurs.
